The clients, a pair of doctors, envisioned a home that was a Tranquil Escape. They had a clear vision of a space submerged in natural light and fresh air, promoting both physical and mental well-being. To unwind after long shifts, they desired dedicated areas for quiet reading and relaxation. Additionally, they expressed a unique desire for each bedroom to have its own distinct character, creating a variety of personal retreats within the home. They desired a residence that fostered a sense of calm from the moment they step inside, a place where worries melt away.
Surveying the proposed site, I was inspired to create an awe-struck space. The lush landscape whispered possibilities, and a vision bloomed in my mind’s eye: a classic colonial-style bungalow nestled seamlessly amidst the flourishing greenery. Lush landscaping wouldn’t simply frame the property; it would become an extension of the living space itself. To establish this profound connection between indoors and outdoors, I came up with a central courtyard as the undeniable cornerstone of the design.
More than just an architectural element, the central courtyard would become the beating heart of the home. Keeping client in the centre, we meticulously planned the place to give tranquil vibrations at each turn. So be it the rooms, the living space, the overall vibe of the house is calming and would serve as a constant reminder that the natural world just beyond the door. The careful planning of the courtyard, with its thoughtful integration of landscaping elements, would ensure it fulfils the client’s desire for a home that embodies peacefulness. This design approach transcends aesthetics; it leverages key principles of biophilic design, promoting a deep connection to nature and its inherent calming effects.
Bird-Inspired Staircase Design: A Standout Architectural Feature, the staircase, inspired by the graceful curves of a bird’s wing, takes centre stage as a sculptural element. Its intricate design not only serves as a functional link but also adds a touch of artistic flair to the entire space.
