The Hacienda project presented a unique challenge: a joint family had purchased two adjoining, pre-existing houses and desired a cohesive design that fostered both togetherness and individual space.
The sprawling 20,000-square-foot plot held the undeniable promise of a landmark residence. Prime location, grand scale – everything seemed to conspire towards the creation of something truly extraordinary.
Our vision for the project was ambitious: to transform these two separate houses into a pair of identical twins, each embodying the timeless elegance of Neoclassical architecture. The challenge, however, was substantial. Originally built with distinct layouts and design styles, these pre-existing structures seemed determined to resist our desire to create a unified masterpiece.
Undeterred by the initial obstacle, we embarked on a meticulous redesign process.
The central element of our concept became a vibrant green haven: a lush lawn adorned with captivating water features.
This tranquil oasis would serve as the heart of the project, a shared space fostering connection between the two soon-to-be identical residences.
For further interaction and a sense of togetherness, all bedrooms would be strategically positioned to overlook this central space. Further to maintain the togetherness among the families, we provided a central courtyard concept which wouldn’t just physically connect the houses but would also serve as a symbolic link of Inclusive access.
The most significant challenge we faced was forging a sense of architectural symmetry from distinctly different structures. Spatial planning and design elements required a complete overhaul. Furthermore, incorporating classical details into pre-existing, modern buildings presented a unique test. Through meticulous planning and innovative solutions, we bridged the gap between the existing and the envisioned.
